Une autre pensée sur la mode – La collection Tati – Galerie Azzedine Alaïa
Azzedine Alaïa’s Tati collection is the approach of a couturier who wanted to develop a fashion show based on a symbol of culture and popular consumption.
Using the pattern of the famous store’s awning, Alaïa has created a collection that combines the sculptural aspect of her clothes with the motif worked both in jacquard on the knitwear or in print on denim. Varying the shapes of enveloping jackets with wide collars and corseted mini bras, he also plays with the size effects of the pattern and creates optical effects.
In exchange for the use of the famous pied-de-coq, Alaïa designed several products for the Tati brand: espadrilles, bag and t-shirt. This collaboration for Summer 1991 was the precursor of subsequent exchanges between accessible fashion and luxury designers.
